I will admit I don’t do much backpacking in warm weather. There are bugs, and bears, and it’s hot. On the plus side though, the days are longer. Sometimes I do enjoy backpacking at the beginning of the summer or at the end. At the moment I’m getting ready for a long weekend backpacking trip to North Carolina. The mountains there are gorgeous and I’m really looking forward to it! I just printed out my checklist to make sure I pack everything for my trip. If I don’t have a physical checklist that I can look at while I’m packing and then check everything off as I actually put it in my backpack, I’ll forget something. A few years ago I packed without being really careful about double-checking my list and I forgot my spoon. That might not seem like a big deal, but I’d made lasagna for dinner, and you absolutely cannot eat lasagna with your hands! I ended up using the flat end of my tiny tube of toothpaste to eat dinner, and then breakfast in the morning. That’s why I always check my checklist!
I want to share my checklist with you. Download it, study the items I list, add anything specific for you (like medication, gear you like, etc.) and modify if to suit your needs!
